The 10th annual Environmental Horizons conference hosted by the Environmental Council was held on April 23-24, 2008, was a huge success. The Environmental Horizons Open House included poster presentations from approximately 75 students and exhibits from 20 campus units and student groups. We estimate that 500 people attended the open house to learn from each other and to exchange ideas.

The Environmental Horizons Sustainability Summit focused on how our scholarly efforts on campus advance the cause of environmental sustainability. Experts from across campus gathered to discuss our strengths and steps forward with regard to energy;climate;land, water & biodiversity;and life cycles & sustainability. There were 16 different summit sessions that included brief presentations from 37 scholars followed by discussion with the audience. Nearly every college and Survey were represented in the sessions and members of the audience were actively engaged. There was great interest in future collaboration among participants.
