Tips on Finding a SURE Project

Sometimes the hardest part of doing a SURE project is getting started. Here are some tips to help you find a project.

REMEMBER, you don't have to have a project in mind! Just start talking to professors and the right project will come up.

  • Talk to a professor whose class you have enjoyed. Chances are if you liked the class you will like the ideas that professor might have. Every professor on campus is doing research and almost every professor can use an extra set of hands. If they can't use you, they can recommend someone who can.

  • Talk to your advisor. Advisors can be a great source of information about who is doing what in your department or around campus. As he/she knows your interest area, your advisor can help direct you to professors who are doing work in that area.

  • Talk to us. At the Environmental Council, we have contacts across campus and we would be happy to help direct you to professors who are working in your major or area of interest.
